Scott Mingee has over 20 years of experience in the health care industry. As CEO of Equian, Mr. Mingee will lead the company through a time of unprecedented change in healthcare. Prior to becoming CEO for Equian, Scott worked for Xerox/ACS. In his last post he was the group president for the Provider line of business. In this capacity, he was responsible for multiple lines of business that included consulting, analytics, IT outsourcing, and learning management. Prior to this role, he served as SVP of the Payer line of business. During his tenure this group diversified their service offerings and experienced outstanding growth—more than tripling the top line.
Before joining Xerox, Mr. Mingee held CIO and CTO positions at payer-based company Outsourced Administrative Systems, and prior to that a variety of positions within the Anthem family of companies. Scott’s background and skills make him a natural fit as the CEO of Equian. He is knowledgeable about the healthcare market and has a deep track record developing and executing a strategic vision.
Rob Bader came to Trover Solutions in 1998 as Senior Vice President of Business Development. From 1999 to 2002, he was Executive Vice President of Overpayment Operations and then Executive Vice President of Healthcare Sales and Client Solutions from 2002 to 2006.
He served as President of Trover’s Healthcare Division for a year before being named CEO in November 2007.
Mr. Bader’s career prior to Trover included financial and operational positions at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kentucky as well as audit and tax services with Ernst & Young. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Rob graduated magna cum laude from Bellarmine University with a BA in Accounting.
Business First of Louisville has recognized Rob Bader three times as among the Greater Louisville region’s “Leaders in Healthcare.”
Mike Morrison serves as chief revenue officer overseeing sales, marketing, business development, account management, and emerging markets initiatives. Prior to joining Equian, Mr. Morrison served as senior vice president of the Commercial BPO for Xerox. During his tenure at Xerox, Mr. Morrison grew accounts from basic transaction processing into successful partnerships that now encompass the entire end-to-end healthcare BPO suite of services. Mr. Morrison brings unparalleled insight and focus to his management and business development responsibilities, continually pursuing innovative growth strategies and solutions for our clients. True to his never-ending drive for excellence, Morrison is a nine-time President’s Club recipient. He earned a Bachelor’s of Business degree in Management Information Systems from Ohio University.
Shankar Narayanan has over 17 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As Chief Operating Officer, Shankar has responsibility for operations, technology, integration, and business performance management at Equian. Prior to joining Equian, Shankar was the Global Head of the Life Sciences Business unit at Cognizant. In this capacity he owned market development, client relationships, strategy, and M&A and integration across all lines of service. During his tenure Shankar grew the business by over 50% successfully returning the business to industry leading growth and delivered on a substantial margin improvement program while integrating acquisitions and building out several innovative product platforms. At Cognizant, Shankar was a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
Prior to Cognizant, Shankar was a Partner at McKinsey & Company. At the Firm he built new businesses, and worked extensively on strategy, M&A, merger integration, and operational excellence engagements for healthcare, life sciences, technology/business services clients and financial investors. He was recognized as a highly collaborative and structured problem solver, inclusive people leader, an entrepreneur, and an organization builder.
Mr. Martin joined Equian in 2008 to lead all aspects of the company’s financial structure and strategy. He brings with him more than 20 years of fiscal and operational management, with a strong focus in M&A and corporate finance for both Private and PE-backed companies. Previously, Mr. Martin was with a national accounting and consulting firm serving as an advisor for the financial services sector on corporate finance strategies. His experience also includes financial positions with a nationally-ranked real estate company providing guidance on capital strategies to support expansion opportunities. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Purdue University and a former CPA in the State of Indiana. In 2015, he was recognized as a CFO of the Year honoree by the Indianapolis Business Journal.
Daniel Gibson came to work at Trover as the Senior Staff Attorney in 1997. He served as Trover’s Director of Legal Support Operations in 1998 and then Director of Litigation Specialists in 1999. He was named Senior Vice President and General Counsel in 2006 and became Managing Partner of Gibson & Sharps, PSC, one of the nation’s largest law firms dedicated exclusively to subrogation. In his current position as Chief Administrative Officer, Gibson oversees the management of corporate law, human resources, facilities, training, talent development, compliance and quality assurance, and mass tort and other operational legal resources.
His experience prior to Trover includes service as the Assistant Commonwealth (KY) Attorney from 1990–1992 and working with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate Generals Corp. from 1992–1995. Gibson practiced law privately until coming to Trover in 1997.
Gibson is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a BA degree in Political Science and received his JD from the University of Kentucky School of Law. His professional affiliations include the Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association and National Association of Subrogation Professionals.
Richard (Rick) Fitzgerald is Equian’s Executive Vice President of Technology and Procurement and Chief Information Officer. He is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s product development, technology operations and procurement functions.
Prior to joining Equian, Fitzgerald was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer for nThrive (formerly MedAssets), a leading Revenue Cycle Management software and services organization. In this role, Fitzgerald oversaw the Company’s technology strategy, architecture, operations and corporate systems. He also lead all aspects of the Company’s procurement and facilities management.
Previously, Mr. Fitzgerald worked at Bank of America as Senior Vice President, consumer channels infrastructure services and production support. While at Bank of America, he was recognized as Enterprise Inventor of the Year in 2010, and named inventor on thirteen issued patents. From 1998 to 2007, Mr. Fitzgerald held various leadership roles within the General Electric Company. Mr. Fitzgerald is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean Process Improvement expert and graduated from the GE Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP). He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Marquette University, and a bachelor's degree from John Carroll University.
Scott Gullett joined Equian in January of 2015 and has over 15 years of experience managing large-scale healthcare and insurance operations. In his current role as Equian’s President of Pre-Payment Solutions, Scott will leverage his proven operational strengths to identify and implement process improvements in Equian’s Pre-Payment line of business, to further drive customer savings through our payment integrity services for governmental, commercial and workers compensation healthcare payors. In his previous role as Vice President of Xerox’s Insurance business operations, Scott had a proven track record of improving financial performance, employee development, operational efficiencies, and account satisfaction.
Gary Liter has more than 25 years’ experience leading healthcare and property and casualty cost containment divisions. He has successfully led strategic initiatives to grow the businesses he manages and has expertise in running large scale operations, sales and account management.
Mr.Liter currently has responsibility for all subrogation services for both the healthcare and property and casualty Divisions of Equian.
Liter holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and insurance from Eastern Kentucky University and an MBA in finance from Ball State University. He also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation from the Insurance Institute of America and the Chartered Subrogation Recovery Professional Designation (CSRP).
Chris Reed has more than 18 years of experience in healthcare insurance and services with a history of building and growing businesses across the globe. As Group President of Data Mining & Provider Audit, Chris has responsibility to significantly grow, enhance, and scale this line of business for healthcare clients. Prior to joining Equian, Chris held a variety of global leadership positions within MetLife, most recently Head of the Middle East Employee Benefits business, VP of US Group Insurance Operations, and Country Manager for the UK Retirement & Savings business. Chris has a proven track record of driving transformational change in operating models, including US Dental claim unit cost reduction, Mexico medical reengineering, US group business re-platforming, and Middle East medical cost controls. Chris holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from M.I.T. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.
TJ Fjelseth brings 30 years of leadership experience in human resources, organizational culture, and performance consulting in a wide variety of industries. His work in the field of human and organizational performance has covered the gamut, including culture integration, mergers / acquisitions, organization development, human capital technologies, and change management in large domestic and multi-national companies.
Mr. Fjelseth has received a number of awards during his career, including the award as Human Resources Executive of 2015 by the Society for Human Resources Management. He is a graduate of Excelsior University in Albany, NY, and he holds credentials in total quality management, as a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a Balanced Scorecard Professional.
Katy Brant brings more than 18 years of healthcare experience to her position as Equian's Senior Vice President of Healthcare Innovation. Katy has held a variety of progressive leadership positions with the company over the course of more than a decade, most recently as Vice President of Operations for Clinical Review and Resolution. Before beginning her tenure with Equian, Katy worked for several years as a specialized Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
In her current role, Katy is focused on growing clinical content, as well as expanding payment integrity solutions. She will also continue to concentrate on oversight for the clinical review and resolution product line, where she brings her extensive clinical knowledge to her work in technology solutions and rule development.
Katy is passionate about improving healthcare here in the US and around the world, something that drives her in her role with Equian, as well as in her volunteer work as coordinator for an annual medical mission trip to the Peruvian Andes. Katy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Colorado's Beth-El School of Nursing and Health Sciences.
John Blaney joined Equian in March of 2015 and has over 30 years of experience managing large-scale healthcare technology and recovery operations. In his current role as Equian’s President of Data Mining and Provider Audit Solutions, John will leverage his proven operational strengths to identify and implement process improvements in Equian’s post payment line of business, to further drive customer savings through our payment integrity services for governmental and commercial healthcare payors. In his previous role as President of Primax Recoveries, John had a proven track record of improving financial performance, employee development, operational efficiencies, and account satisfaction.
Jennifer joined Equian in 2010 as the Corporate Financial Controller leading and expanding the finance team while heavily involved in collaborating with the business leaders by providing financial analysis and accountability across the organization. Jennifer soon transitioned to the VP of Finance role where she maintained responsibility for the oversight of accounting, finance and HR functions but also lead and became more involved with the integration of the post payment acquisition activities to expand the offerings of the Company. The involvement of the post payment acquisitions lead Jennifer to be instrumental in driving the post payment strategy for Equian by overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic growth initiatives, including service and savings expansion. Upon the introduction of the most recent merger there was immediate need for oversight of the integration activities by a well rounded resource who is familiar with the vast product capabilities and ability to build strong relationships across organizations. Jennifer continues to drive successful integration outcomes along with product and operational strategy through her latest role with Equian. Equian has a broad offering of Analytics and Payment Integrity Solutions that utilize a single point of connectivity, integration and insight through their proprietary technology platform.
Prior to joining Equian, Jennifer was a senior audit manager for KPMG leading audit engagements both public and nonpublic as well as domestic and international. Jennifer is a certified public accountant and earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Butler University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Prior to coming to work at Equian, Dr. Tony Pelezo held important positions where his broad spectrum of knowledge in healthcare—coding and reimbursement, analytics, finance, clinical knowledge, project management, product development, marketing, revenue cycle, and comprehensive Medicaid and health plan knowledge—was utilized to save time and money.
