In the latter part of 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) began to include Medically Unlikely Edit (MUE) rationale in the Medicare MUE files available for public use. In addition, effective January 1st, 2015, CMS also further defined the processing of medically unlikely edits through the inclusion of MUE adjudication indicators (MAI). In this healthcare video you will be provided an overview of these recent changes in the National Correct Coding Initiative and the Medically Unlikely Edits, in addition to future strategies to consider when developing payer-specific numerical service limits.
